Chuck Law and Kent Brandmeyer Post Defense Trial Victories in the Same Courthouse, Same Week
Many firms have attorneys that try a case here and there. Very few can claim that two of their partners were victorious in simultaneous trials down the hall from each other in the same courthouse at the same time. This rare and remarkable feat was accomplished by Chuck Law and Kent Brandmeyer during the week of September 23, 2013.
Chuck won a medical malpractice wrongful death case with an unanimous defense verdict (12-0) on September 23rd in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, Chatsworth branch. The case involved post-operative bleeding after gallbladder surgery. The plaintiff claimed that Chuck’s client, a surgeon, failed to timely diagnose bleeding where a patient exsanguinated and died. The jury did not agree.
Kent won his case, again unanimously, two days later on September 25th in Chatsworth as well. His was another medical malpractice case with allegations of negligence on the part of an orthopedic surgeon during arthroscopic shoulder repair. The plaintiff claimed that a portion of the surgery involving the rotator cuff was unnecessary, done for monetary gain, and resulted in severe post-operative complications that did not allow the plaintiff to return to her job as a nurse. The jury rejected this claim.
